The weaving of a large-scale tapestry is a collective act and so is the gathering of lines for this project. We propose travelling the country inviting people to enter a translucent cylinder and to draw onto this armature while turning around 360 degrees. These collected traces of gestures responding to places become the template for the tapestry at the same scale. Installed, the plural lines of the collaborative design remember the bodies of many authors and the space they occupied. This is a work about the complexity of place, evoking the lines of history, memory and culture of the spaces in which we locate ourselves.
